In some countries you have to submit the forms electronically online, in others - paper applications are still in use, but you still have to do both in some countries.

Filing documents on time and in the right order is one of the most important aspects of exporting and importing, and every country has their own regulations and restrictions.

Specific requirements for licensing, declaration and other registration forms vary by destination and by type of product.

The following is the list of commonly used documents in international trade:
-- Commercial invoice (should contain the value in national currency and US Dollars with exchange rate, shipper & consignee full names and addresses, description of items, piece count, weights, the place of origin; some invoices must have quota and important notes, instructed by the receiving party, )<

-- Packing List, Descriptive Inventory (has to contain information about item names, product numbering, piece count, packaging type, weights, estimated value if the commodity is household goods)

-- Export Declaration

-- Export License (if needed; government control of the material strategic use; check the possibility of exporting goods from your country to the importing country, restrictions may apply)

-- Bill of Lading (for ocean freight; issued by the carrier or the freight forwarder)

-- Air Way Bill (for air freight)

-- TIR Carnet (for inland trucking transportation)

-- Certificate of Origin (official statement of the product originating country)

-- Fumigation Certificate (the wooden products and packing material have to be fumigated and free of infestation)

-- Dangerous Goods Declaration (for hazardous material)

-- Consular Legalized documents (financial and other statements legaliazed by a country consulate)

When it comes to the import formalities, an importer has to have a package of export documents and import documents, such as import permits, product registration certificates, import declaration, dock receipt, etc., thus import procedures constitute more paperwork.
